What do I do if I receive a fine/penalty?
When you receive a fine or penalty, you normally have 2 options –
I was caught speeding but haven’t received my ticket, what happens now?
Most speeding tickets will be sent to the Finance Company as they are the registered keeper. Please read our Speeding Guide to find out what to do next.
Why have the Finance Company paid and then recharged me for a fine?
Some fines must be paid by the registered keeper and therefore will be paid by the Finance Company, who will then recharge to you, the customer.
Why have I been charged an admin fee on top of the fine?
As part of their terms and conditions within your contract, some finance companies have the right to charge an admin fee if they have to pay and recharge a fine.
Once the fine has been paid, can I contest it?
Most finance companies will supply you with a third-party representation letter, this will allow you to appeal a fine. However, it is up to the authority as to whether they accept or decline the appeal.
